Kampung Pugu Beach, Lundu– Mukah

Most of us must have stood on the Sematan jetty at some point in our lives and wondered what the ‘island’ across the shallow Serayan Besar river mouth was. It is not an island but rather a long and narrow finger like piece of land sandwiched by the South China sea and the Serayan Besar river. The beach was noticeably clean unlike in the seventies up until the nineties where it was full of sawdust. Thanks to the closure of nearby sawmills. Indonesia’s banning of timber from Kalimantan has done a hell lot of good for the beaches here.
